Each kit includes a card with a QR code. Scan it with your phone to open a step-by-step video showing you how to build your KritKrats. Press play, follow along and pause whenever you like.
03 Make it yours
Once you’re done claying, simply leave it out in a cool, dry spot. No oven, no kiln, no mess. Your creation hardens all by itself within 24 hours.

Our Story
We’re Dean & Milica – the two humans behind KritKrats.
We like to say we’re adventurous, but honestly there’s only so much adventuring you can do in the same dorpie every weekend. One Saturday we ordered one of those date night boxes to have a laugh. Two hours later we were elbow-deep in arts and crafts and fully hooked. Down the YouTube rabbit hole we went, and then it popped up – this weird, stretchy, super satisfying clay thing.
Okay, we HAVE to try that. Where do you even buy that? Takealot? We found some sad, dried-out bricks with no tutorials and zero inspo on what to actually make. We eventually found the good stuff in a tiny hidden shop on the edge of our dorpie. Brought it home. Squished for hours. Made monsters that looked like potatoes. Laughed our heads off.
And thought – other people need to feel this.
Cue R2000 worth of ingredients on our kitchen counter, the whole house smelling like a craft store, and one too many “you’re doing it wrong” arguments. We finally found a proper supplier and put our own spin on it until it felt unreal – soft, stretchy, sticks to itself, not to your couch, your clothes, or the dog.
Then came the name. We did what everyone does: “ChatGPT, give us 50 cute names for little clay characters.” They were all terrible. So we stole one of the million nicknames we have for our dog. Kritkrat.

Is KritKrats messy?
Nope — and that’s kind of the whole point. KritKrats uses foam clay, which doesn’t crumble, smear or glue itself to couches (or dogs) the way regular clay does. Stray bits pick straight up and hands wipe clean with a damp cloth. Your table survives.
How does shipping work?
At checkout you’ll have the option to choose between receiving your package at your chosen address or at a courier locker near you.
After successfully placing your order, we’ll ship your package the next business day where you’ll then receive a tracking number on the email you added at checkout.
Orders can take between 1-4 days to reach your destination depending on the shipping method you chose. Orders above R700 receive free shipping.
Can I return a kit?
If your kit arrives damaged or something is missing, email us at info@kritkrats.co.za within 14 days of delivery and we’ll replace it or refund you — your choice.
Because every kit is a sealed craft product, change-of-mind returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery only when the pouch is unopened.
Is the clay safe to consume?
KritKrats foam clay is a craft material, not a snack — it’s not meant to be eaten. Kits also contain small parts like the eyes and molding tool, so we recommend an adult nearby for builders under 5.
How is foam clay different?
Regular clay crumbles, sticks and stains. Foam clay is soft, stretchy and lightweight — it holds its shape while you build, doesn’t leave residue on hands or furniture, and air-dries into a firm little figure within 24 hours. No oven, no kiln, no baking trays sacrificed.
How long does the clay last?
Unopened, a pouch stays fresh for months in a cool, dry spot — so stocking up for birthdays is safe. Once opened, use the clay within 20 minutes for the best squish. And once your KritKrat has air-dried for 24 hours, it stays hard and keeps its shape for years.
